Thunder Ranch - Hay & Grain

Utah is one of the top hay producers in the United States. Due to the high elevation and the location of Thunder Ranch it produces and exceptionally high quality Alfalfa Orchard Grass Hay. Alfalfa hay from the ranch is in exceptional high demand in numerous states especially with equine operations in Kentucky and Florida. Five families live and work on the ranch. Many days and nights throughout the summer are spent cutting, bailing and hauling hay. This operation is no eight to five job.

Each year 1,600 - 1,800 acres are utilized for hay, corn and small grain production. During the growing season the Ranch produces four hay cuttings which start in late May and end in September.

Annually the alfalfa yields an average of six to seven tons per acre. The Ranch uses the most technologically advanced alfalfa hay varieties.

With proper management the Ranch is able to achieve the highest Relative Food Values (RFV) that is paramount to a growing U.S. dairy market. This hay is sold at a premium price. Alfalfa hay at Thunder Ranch is second to none. Last year Thunder Ranch hay was sold to operations in FL, KY, IA, PA, WV, TX, WY, CO, NM and CA. There is a lot of Thunder Ranch pride in ever bail.
